Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Auto, Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 3.72% or 83.45 points to trade at 2325.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank of Baroda Ltd (NS:BOB) added 2.63% or 3.80 points to end at 148.35 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 1.66% or 11.25 points to 687.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 2.49% or 12.60 points to trade at 494.30 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.24% or 88.20 points to end at 3856.05 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 2.09% or 8.85 points to 414.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 3.33% to 2313.60, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 1.64% to settle at 687.65 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 1.27% to close at 271.20.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 2.29% to 3858.10 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 1.98% to settle at 415.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.96% to 506.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 853 to 711 and 13 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1329 fell and 1189 advanced, while 144 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.66% or 11.25 to 687.65. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.64% or 11.10 to 687.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.46% to 11.6325.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 8.35 to $1318.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.16% or 0.58 to hit $50.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 0.60 to trade at $55.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 64.295, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 77.1263.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 91.49.
