Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.86%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 4.50% or 16.40 points to trade at 379.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 4.11% or 35.50 points to end at 899.45 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.76% or 10.70 points to 295.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which fell 0.89% or 6.25 points to trade at 691.75 at the close. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) declined 1.25% or 3.95 points to end at 310.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was down 0.85% or 10.80 points to 1262.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 4.55% to 380.35, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.56% to settle at 295.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 3.21% to close at 488.85.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.47% to 170.35 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.16% to settle at 1271.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 0.07% to 2059.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1111 to 502 and 31 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1626 rose and 929 declined, while 115 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.75% to 12.5500.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.60 to $1298.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.41% or 0.27 to hit $65.25 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.15 to trade at $75.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 66.953, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 78.8037.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.60.
