Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Metals and Carbon sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 1.86% or 29.60 points to trade at 1,623.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 1.55% or 34.25 points to end at 2,237.55 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 1.37% or 12.05 points to 889.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 1.75% or 11.15 points to trade at 626.85 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) declined 1.16% or 12.90 points to end at 1,099.30 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 1.12% or 2.50 points to 219.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 1.54% to 2,237.50, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.15% to settle at 983.95 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 0.96% to close at 8,315.00.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.06% to 220.10 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 1.02% to settle at 5,592.85 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 0.93% to 1,139.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1592 to 375 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2649 fell and 866 advanced, while 144 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.35% to 15.44.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.65% or 33.05 to $1,968.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.20% or 0.83 to hit $70.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.85 to trade at $75.44 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.37, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 88.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 102.78.
