Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 2.53% or 12.60 points to trade at 510.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 2.47% or 47.70 points to end at 1978.80 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) was up 2.42% or 10.00 points to 423.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which fell 2.76% or 4.75 points to trade at 167.25 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.11% or 84.00 points to end at 3888.05 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was down 2.08% or 657.10 points to 30977.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.49% to 472.00, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 2.38% to settle at 1979.10 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which gained 2.32% to close at 944.25.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.59% to 167.40 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.07% to settle at 3885.30 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.09% to 2740.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1042 to 499 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1596 fell and 898 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.79% to 14.1050.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.81 to $1291.89 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $47.56 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $51.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 64.145, while EUR/INR fell 0.50% to 75.3677.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 93.44.
