India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.01%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Metals sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.01% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which rose 3.58% or 5.30 points to trade at 153.65 at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.78% or 45.50 points to end at 1682.70 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was up 2.39% or 5.85 points to 249.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which fell 3.62% or 7.05 points to trade at 187.60 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 2.17% or 22.35 points to end at 1006.75 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.81% or 50.65 points to 2751.70.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 3.53% to 153.80, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.84% to settle at 1682.80 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.41% to close at 467.10.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.65% to 187.45 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.11% to settle at 1006.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 1.81% to 2755.35 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 942 to 663 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1432 fell and 1185 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.83% to 15.1500.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.83% or 10.85 to $1298.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.24% or 0.14 to hit $58.12 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $67.47 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.41% to 69.391, while EUR/INR fell 0.38% to 78.4155.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 96.757.
