Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Retail and Food & Beverages sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.14% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index lost 0.01%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN), which rose 2.53% or 1.28 points to trade at 51.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 2.15% or 1.05 points to end at 49.99 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was up 1.94% or 0.59 points to 31.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p), which fell 2.16% or 1.58 points to trade at 71.46 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) declined 2.09% or 10.20 points to end at 477.60 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) was down 1.82% or 1.02 points to 54.98.
The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 4.18% to 26.82, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was up 4.00% to settle at 32.24 and RTL Group SA (ETR:RRTL) which gained 2.75% to close at 31.40.
The worst performers were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 3.55% to 47.26 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.21% to settle at 34.34 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 2.54% to 117.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which rose 1.76% to 39.36, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was up 1.39% to settle at 83.75 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which gained 1.30% to close at 87.46.
The worst performers were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 3.55% to 47.26 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.21% to settle at 34.34 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 2.54% to 117.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 309 to 291 and 39 ended unchanged.
Shares in BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.53% or 1.28 to 51.88.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.02% to 12.11 a new 3-years low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.40 to $2,160.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.24% or 1.85 to hit $80.88 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.77 to trade at $85.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 103.61.
