Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software, Food & Beverages and Financial Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.01%, while the MDAX index lost 0.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG), which rose 2.30% or 1.92 points to trade at 85.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 2.00% or 0.24 points to end at 12.26 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) was up 1.98% or 2.76 points to 142.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 2.59% or 8.40 points to trade at 315.30 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) declined 2.35% or 0.84 points to end at 34.76 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 2.18% or 0.91 points to 40.78.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which rose 3.50% to 106.60, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 3.09% to settle at 12.83 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which gained 2.89% to close at 66.28.
The worst performers were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 9.62% to 130.60 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 3.90% to settle at 17.49 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 2.92% to 89.75 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 5.84% to 35.35, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which was up 1.98% to settle at 142.04 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which gained 1.83% to close at 10.06.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.90% to 17.49 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 2.92% to settle at 89.75 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.70% to 54.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 387 to 240 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.30% or 1.92 to 85.26. Shares in Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.50% or 3.60 to 106.60.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.87% to 13.20.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,032.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.14% or 0.10 to hit $72.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.07 to trade at $77.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 102.14.
