Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.59%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares higher while losses in the Software, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.59%, while the MDAX index fell 0.36%, and the TecDAX index added 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 1.66% or 0.220 points to trade at 13.478 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 1.06% or 1.000 points to end at 95.500 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.00% or 0.250 points to 25.250 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which fell 3.33% or 3.150 points to trade at 91.430 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 2.47% or 1.02 points to end at 40.20 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 2.32% or 0.570 points to 24.000.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which rose 1.99% to 56.50, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 1.53% to settle at 65.020 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 1.48% to close at 82.320.

The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 12.15% to 0.43 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) which lost 3.10% to settle at 35.650 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 2.48% to 32.260 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 2.94% to 11.190, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 1.68% to settle at 13.950 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 1.49% to close at 54.400.

The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.71% to 25.210 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 3.06% to settle at 68.000 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 2.33% to 12.600 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 390 to 317 and 107 ended unchanged.

Shares in Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.66% or 0.220 to 13.478. Shares in Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.06% or 1.000 to 95.500. Shares in Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.99% or 1.10 to 56.50. Shares in Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) rose to all time highs; rising 1.53% or 0.980 to 65.020. Shares in Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) rose to all time highs; rising 1.48% or 1.200 to 82.320. Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) rose to all time highs; rising 1.49% or 0.800 to 54.400.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.03% to 12.37.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.26% or 3.40 to $1322.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.59% or 1.01 to hit $64.58 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.58 to trade at $69.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.2035, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8889.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 91.65.
