Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.29%, while the MDAX index lost 0.84%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn), which rose 0.31% or 0.500 points to trade at 161.300 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) fell 0.02% or 0.010 points to end at 59.580 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) was down 0.14% or 0.035 points to 24.395 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG), which fell 3.29% or 1.980 points to trade at 58.290 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING) declined 3.26% or 5.050 points to end at 149.650 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was down 3.16% or 0.301 points to 9.226.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 3.77% to 35.000, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was up 2.80% to settle at 42.175 and RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which gained 1.95% to close at 76.830.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 3.21% to 67.200 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which lost 3.11% to settle at 52.980 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which was down 3.00% to 38.130 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which rose 4.66% to 8.116, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 2.18% to settle at 11.240 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which gained 1.86% to close at 44.645.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was down 3.87% to 35.765 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which lost 2.95% to settle at 8.562 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 2.24% to 31.000 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 511 to 226 and 41 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.93 a new 3-years high.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.31% or 14.90 to $1123.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.66% or 0.26 to hit $39.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.06 to trade at $43.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.18% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.7351.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.00% at 94.85.
