Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Transportation & Logistics and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.40% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index lost 0.11%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 1.24% or 1.400 points to trade at 114.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 0.57% or 0.440 points to end at 77.940 and Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1) was up 0.38% or 0.7500 points to 196.0000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 6.92% or 0.682 points to trade at 9.180 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 2.76% or 5.00 points to end at 176.30 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 2.66% or 1.800 points to 65.760.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which rose 2.08% to 157.20, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was up 1.92% to settle at 24.36 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which gained 1.80% to close at 62.100.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.02% to 51.460 in late trade, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which lost 2.46% to settle at 11.5200 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 2.34% to 66.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 4.39% to 34.50, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 3.71% to settle at 10.480 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.25% to close at 21.800.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 5.85% to 51.500 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 3.06% to settle at 13.620 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 2.52% to 89.050 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 431 to 274 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.92% or 0.682 to 9.180.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.36% to 17.70.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1300.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.77% or 1.21 to hit $67.00 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.38 to trade at $78.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1671, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8777.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 94.04.
