Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.92%, while the MDAX index declined 0.56%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 22.96% or 0.588 points to trade at 3.148 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.15% or 1.25 points to end at 109.90 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 0.87% or 0.505 points to 58.830 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which fell 5.52% or 3.71 points to trade at 63.45 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 2.54% or 6.29 points to end at 241.81 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was down 2.09% or 3.30 points to 154.90.
The top performers on the MDAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which rose 3.56% to 4.594, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.10% to settle at 310.800 and Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which gained 1.47% to close at 91.17.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 6.00% to 39.450 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 3.47% to settle at 102.900 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which was down 3.37% to 20.66 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 22.96% to 3.148, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was up 3.03% to settle at 24.460 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 2.10% to close at 310.800.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 4.37% to 8.965 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 3.47% to settle at 102.900 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.76% to 26.100 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 436 to 237 and 65 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.93% to 30.29.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.88% or 15.85 to $1809.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.44% or 0.18 to hit $40.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.26 to trade at $43.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1289, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.805.
