Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.40% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index declined 0.69%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 8.79% or 15.55 points to trade at 192.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) added 0.98% or 0.325 points to end at 33.440 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 11.135 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which fell 2.15% or 3.55 points to trade at 161.70 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 2.03% or 4.00 points to end at 192.60 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 1.95% or 0.164 points to 8.262.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 0.94% to 72.356, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 0.73% to settle at 151.50 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 0.34% to close at 48.200.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 2.30% to 34.135 in late trade, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which lost 2.11% to settle at 125.15 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 1.94% to 73.820 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 5.44% to 69.420, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 1.20% to settle at 97.430 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 0.58% to close at 37.245.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 5.73% to 7.352 in late trade, Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which lost 4.76% to settle at 28.035 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.86% to 11.550 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 553 to 214 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) rose to all time highs; gaining 8.79% or 15.55 to 192.55.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.44% to 13.99.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.72% or 9.07 to $1269.07 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.35% or 0.66 to hit $49.70 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.90% or 0.98 to trade at $52.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1747, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8947.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 93.24.
