Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.40%, while the MDAX index added 1.58%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.92%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG), which rose 4.85% or 3.420 points to trade at 73.970 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 4.39% or 5.450 points to end at 129.700 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 3.75% or 1.855 points to 51.260 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 0.18% or 0.020 points to trade at 11.320 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.65% or 0.080 points to end at 12.405 and SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) was up 0.72% or 0.470 points to 65.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 10.27% to 36.510, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was up 4.18% to settle at 48.795 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which gained 3.91% to close at 58.960.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 30.58% to 20.530 in late trade, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which lost 1.35% to settle at 53.510 and Brenntag AG (XETRA:BNRGn) which was down 0.50% to 51.240 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 24.09% to 22.095, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 5.01% to settle at 156.250 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 4.24% to close at 21.620.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 2.44% to 47.170 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which lost 0.68% to settle at 11.020 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 0.21% to 6.293 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 567 to 169 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) fell to 3-years lows; falling 30.58% or 9.045 to 20.530.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 23.65.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.76% or 9.00 to $1186.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.01% or 0.61 to hit $60.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.41 to trade at $65.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1296, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.7288.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 94.79.
