Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.42%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.31%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 5.62% or 0.800 points to trade at 15.030 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 3.77% or 0.302 points to end at 8.309 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 3.11% or 2.420 points to 80.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which fell 1.59% or 2.350 points to trade at 145.450 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.04% or 0.870 points to end at 82.550 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 0.53% or 0.080 points to 14.925.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which rose 3.96% to 27.955, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 3.02% to settle at 5.50 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 2.99% to close at 28.255.
The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 4.21% to 44.250 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 1.24% to settle at 97.500 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was down 0.46% to 46.525 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 3.13% to 39.505, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was up 3.00% to settle at 45.860 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 2.47% to close at 38.985.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 0.76% to 5.498 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 0.64% to settle at 54.150 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 0.54% to 31.240 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 632 to 226 and 26 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 10.07% to 17.53 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 5.85 to $1322.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.06% or 1.32 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.06% or 1.39 to trade at $46.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8390.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.92.
