Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.43%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.43%, while the MDAX index added 0.63%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.05%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.72% or 0.485 points to trade at 18.345 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.44% or 1.010 points to end at 71.180 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 1.24% or 1.070 points to 87.330 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 1.10% or 0.34 points to trade at 30.05 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 0.80% or 0.130 points to end at 16.190 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 0.76% or 0.560 points to 73.190.

The top performers on the MDAX were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which rose 3.48% to 26.905, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 3.31% to settle at 37.150 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 3.02% to close at 56.35.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.28% to 61.700 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which lost 0.90% to settle at 74.080 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 0.58% to 29.845 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 11.43% to 0.039, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 8.02% to settle at 100.250 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.29% to close at 34.88.

The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.79% to 178.150 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 1.71% to settle at 23.835 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.04% to 47.955 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 446 to 316 and 24 ended unchanged.

Shares in Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) rose to 3-years highs; up 3.31% or 1.190 to 37.150.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.69% to 15.75.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.26% or 3.15 to $1212.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.40% or 0.74 to hit $53.49 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.50 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0753, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8581.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
