Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.83%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.83%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.52%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which rose 9.46% or 5.615 points to trade at 64.965 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 2.45% or 3.97 points to end at 166.28 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) was up 2.19% or 2.92 points to 136.09 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which fell 1.77% or 2.475 points to trade at 137.475 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.38% or 3.85 points to end at 275.15 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 1.25% or 0.440 points to 34.625.

The top performers on the MDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 7.12% to 18.677, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 4.10% to settle at 142.300 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which gained 3.38% to close at 73.50.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 5.25% to 57.800 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which lost 2.44% to settle at 102.075 and Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which was down 2.11% to 65.050 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 7.12% to 18.677, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 4.10% to settle at 142.300 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.21% to close at 33.130.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 5.25% to 57.800 in late trade, New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which lost 3.26% to settle at 237.50 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was down 2.03% to 178.800 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 391 to 280 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.46% or 5.615 to 64.965. Shares in Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.19% or 2.92 to 136.09. Shares in HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) rose to all time highs; rising 3.38% or 2.40 to 73.50.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.95% to 24.41.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.12% or 2.25 to $1835.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.14% or 1.17 to hit $55.93 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.73 to trade at $58.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.2020, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8804.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 91.180.
