Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Leisure Goods and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.98%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi (PARIS:VIV), which rose 0.11% or 0.03 points to trade at 23.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran (PARIS:SAF) added 0.06% or 0.04 points to end at 65.00 and Schneider Electric (PARIS:SCHN) was up 0.01% or 0.01 points to 72.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Valeo (PARIS:VLOF), which fell 2.86% or 4.10 points to trade at 139.05 at the close. Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) declined 2.24% or 1.75 points to end at 76.37 and Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP) was down 2.01% or 5.15 points to 251.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which rose 4.87% to 34.375, Hermes International SCA (PARIS:HRMS) which was up 4.30% to settle at 328.40 and Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which gained 3.59% to close at 8.184.
The worst performers were Orpea (PARIS:ORP) which was down 3.62% to 58.65 in late trade, Iliad (PARIS:ILD) which lost 3.23% to settle at 217.30 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) which was down 2.86% to 139.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 574 to 347 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vivendi (PARIS:VIV) rose to 5-year highs; up 0.11% or 0.03 to 23.12. Shares in Hermes International SCA (PARIS:HRMS) rose to all time highs; up 4.30% or 13.55 to 328.40.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.57% to 19.36 a new 1-month high.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.15% or 1.80 to $1187.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.62% or 0.79 to hit $47.89 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 0.84 to trade at $55.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.94% to 1.0731, while EUR/GBP fell 1.18% to 0.7230.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 98.75.
