Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 2.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which rose 0.65% or 0.29 points to trade at 45.10 at the close. Meanwhile, ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 4.460 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 0.15% or 0.020 points to 13.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 5.65% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.67 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.71% or 0.33 points to end at 6.67 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was down 4.41% or 0.76 points to 16.49.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 237 to 58 and 22 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.17% to 44.73 a new 1-month high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.60 to $1288.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.70% or 0.83 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.15% or 1.57 to trade at $135.50 .
USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.4816, while EUR/BRL fell 0.77% to 3.9020.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 95.03.
