Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.82% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 2.26% or 0.21 points to trade at 9.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) added 1.40% or 0.23 points to end at 16.71 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 1.01% or 0.23 points to 23.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 3.98% or 0.29 points to trade at 6.99 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 3.66% or 2.38 points to end at 62.62 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was down 3.61% or 0.67 points to 17.91.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 220 to 164 and 35 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.01% to 37.37.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.55 to $1267.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.48% or 0.22 to hit $46.05 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.67% or 0.85 to trade at $127.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.76% to 3.3205, while EUR/BRL rose 0.84% to 3.7202.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 97.15.
