Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which rose 8.56% or 0.920 points to trade at 11.670 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 4.20% or 1.79 points to end at 44.44 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 4.03% or 0.34 points to 8.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which fell 5.25% or 1.16 points to trade at 20.95 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.08% or 0.95 points to end at 22.33 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 3.90% or 0.40 points to 9.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 160 to 111 and 11 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.49% to 30.76.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.79% or 9.30 to $1192.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.62% or 1.55 to hit $60.81 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.21% or 1.62 to trade at $135.88 .
USD/BRL was down 1.43% to 3.0173, while EUR/BRL fell 0.95% to 3.3823.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.70.
