Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 6.06% or 0.26 points to trade at 4.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) added 3.68% or 0.41 points to end at 11.56 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was up 3.16% or 0.91 points to 29.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11), which fell 3.71% or 0.65 points to trade at 16.88 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 2.79% or 0.22 points to end at 7.67 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was down 2.57% or 0.36 points to 13.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 193 to 170 and 34 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.68% or 0.41 to 11.56.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.27% to 34.84.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.17% or 1.95 to $1163.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.49% or 0.78 to hit $53.11 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 3.09% or 4.25 to trade at $141.82 .
USD/BRL was down 1.47% to 3.2171, while EUR/BRL fell 0.89% to 3.3666.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 102.70.
