Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 4.51% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.39 at the close. Meanwhile, EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 3.71% or 0.30 points to end at 8.38 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 2.50% or 0.75 points to 30.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 6.37% or 0.42 points to trade at 6.17 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 4.23% or 0.50 points to end at 11.31 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was down 3.74% or 0.15 points to 3.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 182 to 115 and 8 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.09% to 31.65.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.30 to $1173.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.34% or 0.80 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.32% or 1.77 to trade at $136.10 .
USD/BRL was down 1.40% to 3.1100, while EUR/BRL rose 0.54% to 3.5105.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.20% at 95.22.
