Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.20%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.20%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.37% or 0.41 points to trade at 9.79 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 2.51% or 0.52 points to end at 21.25 and Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) was up 2.51% or 1.10 points to 45.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which fell 3.30% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.57 at the close. IGUATEMI ON NM (SA:IGTA3) declined 3.00% or 1.18 points to end at 38.20 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was down 2.92% or 0.41 points to 13.64.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 307 to 129 and 33 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.33% to 34.44.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.74% or 9.15 to $1250.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.65% or 1.88 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.91% or 1.95 to trade at $100.30 .

USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.9009, while EUR/BRL fell 0.11% to 4.4257.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 96.578.
