Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 4.73% or 0.70 points to trade at 15.51 at the close. Meanwhile, BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) added 3.76% or 0.34 points to end at 9.39 and Cvc Brasil ON (SA:CVCB3) was up 2.97% or 1.15 points to 39.81 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which fell 4.81% or 2.11 points to trade at 41.76 at the close. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 3.61% or 0.78 points to end at 20.85 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 3.29% or 0.66 points to 19.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 206 to 188 and 40 ended unchanged.
Shares in Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.81% or 2.11 to 41.76.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.51% to 52.77.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 9.40 to $1211.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.49% or 1.03 to hit $70.28 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.07% or 2.08 to trade at $102.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.10% to 4.1484, while EUR/BRL rose 0.09% to 4.8240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 94.80.
