Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.10% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.25% or 1.55 points to trade at 49.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) added 3.07% or 0.73 points to end at 24.48 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 2.17% or 0.67 points to 31.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which fell 3.49% or 0.46 points to trade at 12.73 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 3.01% or 0.34 points to end at 10.96 and Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) was down 2.99% or 2.20 points to 71.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 226 to 201 and 42 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.89% to 34.17 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 4.70 to $1339.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.78% or 0.50 to hit $63.80 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.29% or 1.58 to trade at $120.67 .
USD/BRL was up 0.26% to 3.2246, while EUR/BRL rose 0.31% to 3.9577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 90.14.
