Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Gold, IT and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG), which rose 10.26% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK) added 8.27% or 0.10 points to end at 1.34 and Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN) was up 8.13% or 0.39 points to 5.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML), which fell 29.68% or 0.32 points to trade at 0.77 at the close. Graincorp Ltd (ASX:GNC) declined 4.82% or 0.38 points to end at 7.50 and Qbe Insurance Group Ltd (ASX:QBE) was down 2.94% or 0.46 points to 15.19.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 628 to 602 and 361 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.42% to 10.19 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 7.90 to $2,047.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.21% or 0.16 to hit $76.57 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $81.47 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY fell 0.38% to 97.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.53.
