Very bullish, UVXY. Although, it is wild on the downside. The stock market is bearish; may have these small fakeout upside rallies but the overall trend is down for stocks. They'll return to a major uptrend again in 2022.

Jeff Bailey  I averaged a bit more than -7% on my short.  Smaller than yesterday's position, but still fooled me good and I was lucky to get out there. Currently trying to scalp a few percent back, but didn't get in until 18.64 on this run.

UVXY 5-hour intervals with MONTHLY and Weekly (pink) pivot retracement.  Friday's half-session close was dicey at the MONTHLY Pivot as we did get a cash close above.  Thinking that little bid back to WKLY R1 was some short.  A break of $15.95 unravels lower (that's the next test).  UVXY strength above 17.91 for now, but some heavy call selling at the $18 today.

Going to cover my short early, matbe pre-market.  I'm expecting uvxy to have a pretty solid spike today, peaking between 10:30 and noon, but sample size is very small, so I'll wait for confirmation of a move up and maybe just scalp a few percent.  After that, most likely scenario is another excellent opportunity to short.

Yes .... a small one, but I've got some SQQQ, just in case.  Good day here at settlement to grab a screen capture of VX settlements.  See how the bulk of the gain was December +5.7 points at 25.90?  Then Jan +4.15 @ to 26.45, then Feb +3.19 to 26.74.  This suggests to me the market sees this as a short-term issue.  Not that there is a guarantee that history will repeat, but we saw this same denamic on 09/20/21.

My mindset is just as I traded in VX on Wednesday.  Short (technicals + Wed before thanksgiving and Friday after USUALLY bullish equity).  Hedges were coming off in the December VX contract.  Book partial gains, bring stop on the rest to break even just in case a plane flies into a tower, or something happens at a parade.  Last night we get some COVID news, the hedges get put back on today, now VIX above futures.  That to me is some notable put buying in SPX (VIX jumps), but VX futures suggest institutions not overly hedging the vol spike.

Alf Melmac  .... good trade strategy in my opinion.  Last time we inverted VIX over VX that was the spike top.  I would have done the same thing if long, take some profit.  Tech heavyweights held up pretty strong today, but that may have been due to computer programs just set on lower 10-year yield.  They may get reset over the weekend.  I have some SQQQ from $5.91 with a 5% trailing stop and SQQQ really didn't do much.  QQQ and the equal weighted QQQE were tracking today.  I mention ONLY as some of the big tech are an overweight in SPY.  Financials, which are much more bond yield sensitive, did take a hit today.

I took a small long at 19.86.  These high opens typically peak near the end of the day, but they also typically have a 5%+ dip fairly early, so you can see how a sample size of four makes this a little difficult, lol.

Alf Melmac  Got distracted and forgot we were closing early, lol.  Got out 21.56, which is minimal compared to today's big move, but green is green, I suppose.  I expect this to either open positive and then fall all day to negative on Monday, or with luck we get a big drop at open, followed by a big spike, and then a drop back below the open.  Lots of opportunities there, so I took a short position.
