SK Hynix mentioned these technologies directly. Grok says ZeroPoint, TurboQuant and Nvidia VRAM efficiency could cut expected memory demand by 60–70%. The narrative is breaking. That is why Micron is pushing for restrictions on China.

+13435 -788 501 what a /p. Feels like a strong cycle, but also a crowded trade at this point but making gains for those that invested already in the market for substantial amounts...

If Micron were valued at SK Hynix’s multiples, it would be 60% to 70% lower from here. Why is Micron still trading at such a large premium to SK Hynix?

Micron went from $62 to $490 in a year. That’s a textbook bubble.

Has the memory bubble popped? 7 bad headlines for Micron. Google’s TurboQuant claims at least 6x lower KV-cache memory use in some LLM inference workloads. ZeroPoint says typical memory can contain up to 70% unnecessary information and that its compression/compaction tech can materially reduce effective memory needs. Nvidia recently demoed Neural Texture Compression cutting VRAM use from about 6.5GB to roughly 970MB in a gaming texture example. That is not the same thing as all AI memory demand collapsing, but it still matters for the broader efficiency narrative. TSMC is openly trying to avoid next-gen High-NA tools because they are so expensive, which tells you capex pressure is real. The Iran war is still keeping energy, logistics and supply chain risk elevated, and Reuters has already tied the conflict to higher factory input costs and chip material disruption risk.
