US Midwest Domestic Hot-Rolled Coil Steel Futures Discussions

I have not seen the "Cash" line before, what is the difference between that and the regular month by month scenario?
Why US HRC jumped from USD 800 to USD 970 yesterday (Feb 22nd)? What is going on?
Im wondering to
It jumped because it reached the settlement date and they started trading the following contract month. As to why the contracts are higher I assume it is because we are approaching spring and historically construction starts to pick up, however with the current situation as it is who knows what is going to happen
Why doesn’t Steel show the cash prices like other commodities?
What's the unit of measure? Metric tons?
short ton
Is the pricing on this Midwest Domestic Hot Roll Coil steel Futures showing this pricing  by short ton or ton . or 1000lbs ?
It's per metric ton.
Does anyone know a good online platform to trade these futures? I have looked at a bunch but none of them have HRC that I could see.
I'm not a futures trader, but from a search I see that Interactive Brokers offers NYMEX HRC futures trading.
Thank you! They do have it.
Does everyone sill see the october 8 prics?
They finally fixed it!
Is there a similar table out there for historical spot prices?
I would answer yes.  Looking at the historical data, it appears the daily historical price listed would match the daily spot price of the front month (or spot month) daily price.
I had the same question.  I see where to find historical data, but where do you see spot prices?
New era for steel.
Is this thing broke? Not showing the price changes anymore.
I agree, not sure why
chinner is done. Xi Xi Poo wanted to me like Meow Meow and will lose all it's commodity production shortly. The West will insure all commodities will be made elsewhere. moving on up!
Whats the impact from tariff removal - baked IN?
ahh..I think there is an USSteel in Europe. great things for Western Steel production and prices. not so much for Chiiner ..
with the rolling back outs in Chii-ner industry sector and the short supply of coal, steel prices will stay high! esp with the new military build up! let's go $X
The value is for 1 Tonne?
Divide by 2,000 to get lbs. Then add a markup to decoil/slit/delivery to the customer.
What do you use for that markup? I'm a small mfg and been following this index to try and forecast my steel input costs. thanks in advance.

You boys are in for a big loss. The steel market has stabilized now. If China ships over a few freighters full the US market will drop. And when it goes down it will drop fast.
Except China still dipping into their reserves for Steel, they have slowes dowm shipments all summer.
Invested in X and STLD incredible value, trading updates beat any expectation for Q3 coming result. Q4 look even better.when is the price starting to take off?
Novice here trying to learn.  What does the 'Volume' variable refer to?  Coils?  Weight? Contracts?  Thanks for input!
I think it is paper trading volume, I don't think it has anything to do with real steel.
Usually with futures contracts, it is trading volume, aka the number of contracts traded.
X undervalued compared to steel price fundamental, hopefully it's gonna take off later on the infrastructure spending..
another leg up soon. let's go! steel prices is a derivative product. only a oligopolies can produce this product under new Paris Accord agreements. everyone should be stocking up for it's military build up 🤫
$X :)
Have US Steel Mills stop taking orders?
Not that I am aware of. We have had trouble though getting certain sizes of ibeam that are normally readily available.
12 straight green candle on the monthly...never seen anythng like it...
next leg up!
Finally cleared $1800! Should clearly help X and CLF and the others
How much above CRU should a customer be paying on average?
depends on processing
united States steel is the way to go. clf boys will be mad
CLF will be OK!
