United Arab Emirates stocks mixed at close of trade; DFM General up 0.43%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Telecoms and Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.43%, while the ADX General index lost 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 7.09% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) added 3.70% or 0.050 points to end at 1.400 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 2.50% or 0.050 points to 2.050 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which fell 4.49% or 2.85 points to trade at 60.65 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 2.01% or 0.011 points to end at 0.536 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was down 1.31% or 0.012 points to 0.907.

The top performers on the ADX General were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which rose 1.85% to 0.550, Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which was up 1.62% to settle at 3.760 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which gained 1.18% to close at 4.300.

The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 2.65% to 2.200 in late trade, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which lost 2.58% to settle at 6.81 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 2.13% to 2.300 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 14 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 fell and 6 advanced, while 10 ended unchanged.

Shares in Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 7.09% or 0.10 to 1.51. Shares in Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.13% or 0.050 to 2.300.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.54% or 0.29 to $53.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $55.63 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.12% or 1.35 to trade at $1134.95 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6727, while EUR/AED rose 0.16% to 3.8225.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 103.14.
