Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, General Industrial and Construction & Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 4.50% or 95.00 points to trade at 2204.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) added 4.09% or 76.00 points to end at 1936.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 3.89% or 250.00 points to 6684.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which fell 2.28% or 15.20 points to trade at 652.31 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 1.41% or 2.60 points to end at 181.90 and Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) was down 1.29% or 2.90 points to 221.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1467 to 661 and 179 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1515.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $56.15 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.58 to trade at $60.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.2143, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.9140.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 98.053.
