Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Sports, Textile & Leather and Transport sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 0.46%.

The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Akenerji Elektrik Uretim AS (IS:AKENR), which rose 1.87% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.090 at the close. Meanwhile, Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (IS:EREGL) added 1.71% or 0.120 points to end at 7.150 and Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS Class D (IS:KRDMD) was up 1.65% or 0.030 points to 1.850 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ipek Dogal Enerji Kaynaklari Arastirma ve Uretim AS (IS:IPEKE), which fell 3.94% or 0.110 points to trade at 2.680 at the close. Yatas Yatak ve Yorgan Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:YATAS) declined 3.50% or 0.430 points to end at 11.840 and Koza Altin Isletmeleri AS (IS:KOZAL) was down 3.22% or 0.70 points to 21.06.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 252 to 100 and 55 ended unchanged.

Shares in Akenerji Elektrik Uretim AS (IS:AKENR) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.87% or 0.020 to 1.090. Shares in Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (IS:EREGL) rose to all time highs; rising 1.71% or 0.120 to 7.150. Shares in Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS Class D (IS:KRDMD) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.65% or 0.030 to 1.850.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.26% or 3.22 to $1222.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.68% or 1.73 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.14% or 1.56 to trade at $48.05 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 1.48% to 3.6120, while EUR/TRY rose 1.36% to 4.0949.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.09.
