Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Auto and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were E-Lead Elec (TW:2497), which rose 10.00% or 4.60 points to trade at 50.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) added 10.00% or 0.48 points to end at 5.28 and Lu Hai (TW:2115) was up 9.96% or 4.05 points to 44.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424), which fell 8.55% or 3.00 points to trade at 32.10 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 7.53% or 0.90 points to end at 11.05 and Largan Precisi (TW:3008) was down 3.52% or 90.00 points to 2470.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 695 to 145 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.39% or 0.62 to $45.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.97% or 0.47 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.50 to trade at $1111.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 1.11% to 32.753, while TWD/CNY fell 0.26% to 0.1920.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.57.
