Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Machinery and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Enlight Corp (TW:2438), which rose 9.95% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) added 9.85% or 1.00 points to end at 11.15 and Hannstar Board (TW:5469) was up 9.69% or 1.85 points to 20.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.64% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.25 at the close. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 6.87% or 1.35 points to end at 18.30 and Cx Tech (TW:2415) was down 5.94% or 1.45 points to 22.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 476 to 282 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; losing 9.64% or 0.24 to 2.25. Shares in Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.85% or 1.00 to 11.15.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.87% or 0.45 to $51.34 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.71% or 0.39 to hit $54.55 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.34% or 3.95 to trade at $1172.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 31.960, while TWD/CNY fell 8.26% to 0.2154.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 100.29.
