Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Textile, Semiconductor and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asmedia (TW:5269), which rose 9.97% or 18.00 points to trade at 198.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Pao Lung (TW:1906) added 9.90% or 1.00 points to end at 11.10 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.69% or 1.40 points to 15.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Space Shuttle (TW:2440), which fell 9.07% or 0.73 points to trade at 7.32 at the close. Iteq (TW:6213) declined 4.46% or 1.55 points to end at 33.20 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) was down 4.22% or 0.19 points to 4.31.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 396 to 334 and 124 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pao Lung (TW:1906) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.90% or 1.00 to 11.10.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.20% or 0.08 to $40.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.05% or 0.02 to hit $43.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.57% or 7.75 to trade at $1356.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 31.683, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2084.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 95.64.
