Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Merry Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2439), which rose 10.00% or 14.50 points to trade at 159.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc (TW:3437) added 9.09% or 2.00 points to end at 24.00 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) was up 8.80% or 2.85 points to 35.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which fell 6.52% or 0.90 points to trade at 12.90 at the close. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 6.28% or 0.75 points to end at 11.20 and Tah Tong Textile Co Ltd (TW:1441) was down 4.07% or 0.55 points to 12.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 500 to 303 and 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.52% or 0.90 to 12.90.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.26% or 0.18 to $68.69 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.21% or 0.16 to hit $76.34 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1216.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.718, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2229.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.77.
