Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.62%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which rose 2.62% or 7.90 points to trade at 309.40 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 2.42% or 0.535 points to end at 22.600 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was up 2.09% or 0.0450 points to 2.1950 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sberbank (MCX:SBER), which fell 4.38% or 6.11 points to trade at 133.50 at the close. Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) declined 4.12% or 4.03 points to end at 93.75 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was down 3.86% or 145.0 points to 3610.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 131 to 83 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.42% or 0.535 to 22.600.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.92% to 34.540.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.16% or 2.05 to $1274.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.57% or 1.30 to hit $49.26 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.41% or 1.25 to trade at $50.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.14% to 65.0715, while EUR/RUB rose 0.89% to 73.408.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.42.
