Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 3.51% or 0.0390 points to trade at 1.1490 at the close. Meanwhile, Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) added 2.11% or 1.00 points to end at 48.31 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) was up 1.94% or 1.85 points to 97.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which fell 4.58% or 7.20 points to trade at 150.00 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 3.85% or 84.0 points to end at 2095.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was down 3.64% or 22.80 points to 604.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 108 to 81 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.18% to 36.580.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.74% or 8.70 to $1186.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.25% or 0.75 to hit $60.89 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.56 to trade at $65.44 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.18% to 54.380, while EUR/RUB fell 1.92% to 61.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 94.82.
