Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which rose 5.61% or 0.1200 points to trade at 2.2600 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) added 1.09% or 10.5 points to end at 975.0 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) was up 0.92% or 1.18 points to 129.63 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which fell 2.74% or 0.0055 points to trade at 0.1950 at the close. ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) declined 2.71% or 36.0 points to end at 1292.0 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was down 2.49% or 90.0 points to 3530.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 144 to 80 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.92% or 1.18 to 129.63.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.44% to 22.770.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1133.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.39% or 0.21 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.30 to trade at $55.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.72% to 61.0102, while EUR/RUB fell 0.19% to 63.635.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 103.00.
