Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 5.03% or 0.0033 points to trade at 0.0684 at the close. Meanwhile, MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 4.36% or 0.642 points to end at 15.352 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 3.88% or 4670 points to 124900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 2.16% or 21.00 points to trade at 950.00 at the close. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) declined 1.93% or 8.50 points to end at 432.50 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was down 1.92% or 42.0 points to 2148.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 103 to 86 and 6 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 6.32% to 31.440 a new 6-months low.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.16% or 1.90 to $1223.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.87% or 0.52 to hit $59.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.17 to trade at $66.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.22% to 49.492, while EUR/RUB fell 1.16% to 56.545.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 93.41.
