Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 6.36% or 0.0101 points to trade at 0.1682 at the close. Meanwhile, Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) added 5.79% or 2.60 points to end at 47.50 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was up 5.16% or 1.040 points to 21.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MTS (MCX:MTSS), which fell 3.92% or 9.60 points to trade at 235.45 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 2.15% or 15.00 points to end at 684.10 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was down 1.27% or 4.20 points to 327.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 123 to 91 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in FSK EES (MCX:FEES) rose to 3-years highs; up 6.36% or 0.0101 to 0.1682.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.35% to 31.720.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.10% or 14.75 to $1353.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.31% or 0.15 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.16 to trade at $50.19 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.06% to 63.8423, while EUR/RUB rose 0.22% to 71.138.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.64.
