Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.40% or 0.900 points to trade at 21.350 at the close. Meanwhile, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.68% or 18.00 points to end at 688.50 and RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) was up 2.39% or 0.0147 points to 0.6307 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which fell 2.14% or 0.0540 points to trade at 2.4700 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 1.86% or 65.0 points to end at 3430.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was down 1.14% or 0.790 points to 68.500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 112 to 98 and 23 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.93% to 32.990.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.34% or 17.75 to $1338.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.13 to hit $48.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.16 to trade at $49.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.15% to 64.0678, while EUR/RUB rose 0.06% to 71.372.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.71.
