Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 13.79% or 0.1024 points to trade at 0.8450 at the close. Meanwhile, Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 7.85% or 735.0 points to end at 10100.0 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 4.61% or 0.0071 points to 0.1611 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which fell 3.09% or 105.0 points to trade at 3295.0 at the close. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) declined 1.31% or 1.80 points to end at 136.00 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was down 1.28% or 0.700 points to 54.100.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 137 to 88 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) rose to 52-week highs; rising 13.79% or 0.1024 to 0.8450.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.30% to 26.430 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.40 to $1328.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.65% or 1.17 to hit $43.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.32% or 1.07 to trade at $45.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.96% to 65.4893, while EUR/RUB rose 0.89% to 71.928.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 97.37.
