Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.32% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA), which rose 1.88% or 0.152 points to trade at 8.240 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (LS:SEM) added 1.51% or 0.1750 points to end at 11.7600 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 1.30% or 0.1950 points to 15.2000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which fell 3.91% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1720 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) declined 0.67% or 0.0480 points to end at 7.1000 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was down 0.50% or 0.0090 points to 1.8000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 26 to 19 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) rose to all time highs; rising 1.88% or 0.152 to 8.240. Shares in J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.30% or 0.1950 to 15.2000.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 1.65% or 0.74 to $44.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.89% or 0.81 to hit $41.96 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.90 to trade at $1350.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 95.62.
