Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which rose 2.32% or 0.0160 points to trade at 0.7060 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (LS:SEM) added 2.27% or 0.2900 points to end at 13.0500 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was up 2.15% or 0.0180 points to 0.8550 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS), which fell 0.91% or 0.0490 points to trade at 5.3200 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 0.87% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.2270 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was down 0.86% or 0.0530 points to 6.0980.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 20 to 11 and 8 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for March delivery was down 2.15% or 1.19 to $54.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.17% or 1.14 to hit $51.34 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1212.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.0688, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8681.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 100.71.
