Investing.com – Peru stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the S&P Lima Juniors, Mining and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General declined 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Edegel (LM:EDE), which rose 3.60% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.590 at the close. Meanwhile, Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Lima Norte SAA (LM:ENE) added 1.95% or 0.110 points to end at 5.760 and Corporacion Aceros Arequipa SA (LM:ARE) was up 1.82% or 0.010 points to 0.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Buenaventura (LM:BVN), which fell 6.70% or 0.730 points to trade at 10.160 at the close. Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca (LM:POM) declined 2.72% or 0.005 points to end at 0.179 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) was down 2.67% or 0.020 points to 0.730.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lima Stock Exchange by 18 to 14 and 7 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $51.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.52% or 0.28 to hit $54.18 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 2.91% or 33.85 to trade at $1129.85 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was up 0.38% to 3.4030, while EUR/PEN fell 2.31% to 3.5361.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.13% at 103.18.
