Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which rose 0.61% or 0.17 points to trade at 28.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.51% or 0.30 points to end at 59.29 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.19% or 0.030 points to 15.950 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 2.39% or 0.175 points to trade at 7.134 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 1.44% or 0.80 points to end at 54.57 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was down 1.41% or 0.74 points to 51.72.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 71 to 49 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Philips Kon (AS:PHG) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.61% or 0.17 to 28.96.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.97% to 13.70.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.07% or 0.56 to $53.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.16% or 0.63 to hit $55.09 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.25 to trade at $1130.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0446, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.8493.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 103.01.
