Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.77% or 42.36 points to trade at 776.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) added 2.56% or 1.980 points to end at 79.220 and PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) was up 2.35% or 4.47 points to 194.37 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which fell 3.98% or 16.74 points to trade at 404.36 at the close. Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:AC) declined 3.75% or 5.17 points to end at 132.52 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) was down 3.66% or 0.70 points to 18.44.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 164 to 144 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.51% or 6.40 to $1268.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.09% or 1.04 to hit $48.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.41% or 1.26 to trade at $50.98 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.33% to 18.6373, while EUR/MXN rose 0.15% to 20.9442.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 96.92.
