Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.39% or 43.25 points to trade at 844.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) added 3.57% or 1.14 points to end at 33.03 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) was up 2.56% or 0.420 points to 16.810 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA), which fell 1.82% or 0.35 points to trade at 18.90 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.43% or 1.120 points to end at 77.350 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) was down 0.96% or 0.280 points to 28.850.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 148 to 131 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.39% or 43.25 to 844.99.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.76% or 9.74 to $1269.76 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.37% or 0.17 to hit $45.81 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.27 to trade at $48.13 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.23% to 18.1557, while EUR/MXN fell 0.41% to 20.3266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 97.25.
