Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.56% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 2.04% or 5.45 points to trade at 272.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 1.95% or 20.05 points to end at 1050.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was up 0.57% or 32.65 points to 5745.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 4.88% or 3.90 points to trade at 75.95 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) declined 4.75% or 7.70 points to end at 154.25 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was down 4.68% or 12.35 points to 251.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.19% to 1052.05, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 1.70% to settle at 272.05 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 0.49% to close at 5740.30.
The worst performers were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was down 4.68% to 251.65 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which lost 3.83% to settle at 1338.45 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 3.56% to 241.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1174 to 322 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1890 fell and 907 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.88% or 3.90 to 75.95. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) rose to all time highs; up 0.57% or 32.65 to 5745.00. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) rose to all time highs; up 0.49% or 27.95 to 5740.30.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.98% to 15.4250.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.53% or 6.65 to $1260.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $50.13 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $51.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 66.922, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 73.7560.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 97.85.
